In Minnesota
in February
the black cows
that graze
in view of the freeway
pull their hooves
up
and move
through the snow
mud
and sparse wheat.
They are as strong
and graceful
as the herds
of buffalo
and wildebeest
that migrate
in the morning shadows
of the African
Sun.
