Exits & Entrances

I was so fortunate to work this summer with Michael Manteck, a singer-songwriter, just finishing his undergraduate degree at Oxford University. We collaborated to write the following song, which you can hear Michael singing. The lyrics are my own.

Exits and Entrances

Music by Michael Manteck

Words by Julie Bolitho

I got lost

somewhere in the middle

a paragraph

a sentence

your paranthesis

an elipsis

my kiss, your cheek

my hair on bare shoulders

You rang just like a boulder

as you tumbled over me

Twice the man

but half the heart

You never could start

We were exits and entrances

false hellos

and sincere goodbyes

Maybe you only wanted

to be alone

I sat on the roof

while you went inside

We stared at the California moon

and I ran to the tides

13 miles from a shore

that could bore

Because you were exits and entrances

false hellos

and sincere goodbyes

Maybe you only wanted

to be alone

Maybe you only wanted

the ocean

Maybe you only wanted

to be alone

I waved to you

my false hello

a sandy goodbye

The shorelines of false tides

Blessings in disguise

Maybe you only wanted

to be alone
